26 Aug 2008 - Stratford Court get revenge

Stratford Court 147 all out vs Kingswood 73 all out

Stratford Court won by 74 runs.

After being put into bat, visitors Stratford Court started well and reached 37 before Andy Smith (2 for 32) struck in the 9th over. Ian Newns (34) continued the attack, and with further big hitting from Sam Hester (23) a score in excess of 200 looked likely. Wickets for Steve Moran (1 for 5) and two each for Tom Devine (2 for 30) and Dominic Avis (2 for 26) stemmed the flow of runs. Further good bowling from Jay Simmons (1 for 5) and Ben Guy (2 for 8) left Kingswood with a target of 148 to win.

Tight early bowling from Stratford Court left Kingswood at 15 for 2 after 11 overs, and the wickets fell at regular intervals as the hosts attempted to keep up with the run rate. Five consecutive ducks in the middle order left Kingswood at 41 for 8, with Ben Foxwell (21) the only man to reach double figures. The tail wagged, adding another 32 runs, with Tom Devine (5) ably supporting Foxwell and Andy Smith (8*), leaving Kingswood 75 runs short of victory.
