23 Jul 2008 - Pratt Cup vs Commoners

Kingswood and Commoners' final Pratt Cup was a low scoring cliff-hanger. 60 of the total 144 runs in the joint 39 overs were scored in the first three overs of Commoner`s and the last three of Kingswood`s innings. The intervening 33 overs of high class bowling on a low wicket yielded just 84 runs. In the end the match was decided in the last over after the loss of 16 wickets.

With Commoners taking 18 runs off the first over and 32 by the third, a high scoring game looked likely. By the 16th they were all out for 71. Jamie Moran started the collapse but Angus McCubbin ( 3-16 ) and Vince Taylor ( 5-9 ) finished it. Kingswood`s reply was even more laboured against excellent seam and spin. 45-3 off 15 overs suggested the challenge was in doubt.Only with the four main bowling spells complete did the accuracy lapse. Kingswood ended as Commoners had started. Rich Wilding, the game`s top scorer with 18*, and Vince Taylor paved the way for a straight boundary from Jamie Moran as Kingswood scraped home to 73-6 in the last over.
