16 Jun 2008 - vs Pencombe
Another good perfomance in the field by Kingswood`s schoolboy trio and a fine knock by Rob Austen gave the hosts a rare win against touring side Pencombe.
Batting first, Pencombe looked set for a score of 250/300. The eventual total, slightly below par at 228 for 7, was almost entirely down to Kingswood`s three 16 year olds. Jay Simmons and Ben Foxwell took two apiece, and Ben and Tom Devine also took superb boundary catches off Vince Taylor (3-21), whilst Tom swept up any drives within a 20 yard radius.
In reply, Kingswood`s veterans, David Hatton (26) and Rod Alexander (14) put on 50 in the first nine overs. A little set-back at 67-3 was soon resolved by Rob Austen; with help from Kevin Morgan (13), Ben Foxwell (10), Barry Morgan (29), Vince Taylor (20) and Jay Simmons (10*) he led the chase with a cultured 72 * to ease Kingswood home by four wickets with 11 balls to spare.
